A Blend of Romance and Fantasy Chapter 13
Chapter 13
I had half expected it—but neither Leonard nor I triggered the barrier around the princess’s palace.
Either his magic was far beyond anything I could imagine…
or the priests and mages who set up the barrier were completely incompetent.
Because in the blink of an eye, we were back in my study.
At this point, I made a mental note—as a princess, it was my duty to “improve” their skills.
Which meant canceling all their vacation requests and locking them in the magic tower and temple for intensive training.
Satisfied with that decision, I turned to the criminal currently threatening my kingdom.
Leonard had already withdrawn his magic and was casually strolling around my study like he owned the place.
How could someone be that shameless?
He stopped at my desk and flicked a stack of documents with his finger.
“That’s quite a workload. Do you even sleep? I heard you handle most of Singcester’s internal affairs.”
“Stop analyzing my study!”
I quickly stepped in front of him, trying to block his view—though it was far too late.
Just then, Abigail’s voice came from outside.
“Princess?”
Of course she’d noticed. There hadn’t been anyone here a moment ago.
“Princess, did you just return? May I come in?”
“Just a moment!”
I lowered my voice and glanced at Leonard.
“…You should leave for now.”
He mouthed the words quietly.
“Yes. I’ll call for you later.”
If we stayed together, it would only create unnecessary misunderstandings.
So I pushed him toward the window.
He looked at me like I’d lost my mind.
“You’re telling me to leave through the window?”
“You came in through it when you kidnapped me. Figure it out.”
After a brief pause, he climbed onto the windowsill with surprising ease—like a well-trained cat.
After adjusting his clothes, he glanced back at me.
“Tomorrow morning. I’ll wait for your message.”
And then—
he jumped.
Gone without a trace.
Only the faintest trace of his presence lingered.
“Princess?”
“Ah—yes. Come in.”
The moment Abigail entered, she began scolding me.
“Princess, you vanished without a word! Where did you go?”
Dorothy, instead of helping, defended me—pointing out that I disappeared like this all the time anyway.
Their argument grew louder and louder—
“Enough!”
I snapped.
Mostly because—
I was starving.
Getting kidnapped and then returning was exhausting.
I grabbed a handful of cookies and started eating.
“Abigail, did my brother or Aurora come looking for me?”
“They did. Normally they wouldn’t worry over half a day—but you sent a message and then disappeared.”
“Princess, His Majesty and the Saintess have arrived.”
Speak of the devil.
“Let them in.”
The moment they entered—
“Charlotte, where have you been?”
Erdan rushed over, grabbing my hands and looking me over anxiously.
“Your dress is wrinkled… your hair is a mess…”
“Your Majesty, this happens often.”
“…That’s true.”
Aurora’s blunt comment made him sigh.
I pouted internally, then spoke,
“I’m sorry, Brother. I’ll tell you next time.”
“You’ve said that before.”
He pulled out a letter.
Aurora held the same one.
It was the message about the magical document.
“I heard from Sarah. Even she struggled to break the spell. What happened?”
Aurora added,
“You looked troubled after reading it. You found something, didn’t you?”
I hesitated.
I had discovered something—
another transmigrator.
But I had no proof yet.
Erdan sighed softly.
“Are you going to tell us about your ‘past life’ again? Like with Nox Glaston?”
“….”
I had told them before—that I came from Korea, that this world was originally a novel.
They hadn’t believed me.
“It’s not that… I just need a little more time.”
“We trust you,” Erdan said gently.
I gave a small smile.
“I’ll explain everything soon.”
Even if Leonard was another transmigrator—
if he threatened Singcester, I wouldn’t let it slide.
Early the next morning, I sent Leonard a letter.
After taking a moment to steady myself, I began preparing.
In romance fantasy, bold makeup and flashy accessories were essential—especially for intimidation.
“Make it bold.”
“Who are you meeting, Princess?”
“The Sixth Prince of Blake.”
After hours of preparation—
I looked intimidatingly perfect.
“Princess… I don’t think this will make him like you.”
“I’m not trying to be liked. I’m going into battle.”
I slipped rings onto nearly every finger—like I was equipping armor.
Aurora, who had barged in uninvited, stared at me.
“Charlotte… those rings look like gauntlets.”
“Good.”
Looking like I might punch someone at any moment was exactly the goal.
Aurora crossed her arms.
“I knew it. You know that prince, don’t you? You went to meet him yesterday, didn’t you?”
