Grab the Regressor by the Collar and Debut! Chapter 70

Chapter 70. Guess Who? (1)

The more I thought about it, the more I felt like I should’ve just gone to Rene Ent back then. I should’ve forced Cha Minseok out somehow.

“…No. That’s a bit much.”

The shock of seeing Cha Minseok in person for the first time came back to me. I had to admit it—he was on a completely different tier. Even a decent face card couldn’t compete. That was separate from skills or personality.

“Man… being an idol is seriously hard.”

Still, I had to monitor the response. Swallowing the thumbnail shock, I clicked the video.

The intro I’d heard hundreds of times played immediately.

“Looks like they produced it nicely.”

Even while skipping past Han Seongwoo’s unnecessary “trying to look deadly” moments, I had to admit it—the video was good.

The camera work was smooth.
The rhythm edits were tight.
The purplish lighting matched the dreamy vibe of the song perfectly.

They were still rookies. The clumsy parts showed.

But that’s kind of the charm of trainees, isn’t it?

What mattered wasn’t polish.

It was buzz.

No matter how pretty the thumbnail or how clean the edit, if nobody watched, it meant nothing.

I scrolled straight to the comments.

What is this, their thumbnails are good

  • I heard there’s a face genius inheriting Miro’s “gangster-face” lineage so I’m here
└ Not even kidding, I don’t know any names but I know exactly who they mean
    └ Same lmaoooo

  • ♥Taehyun I love you, you’re doing so well♥

  • A Seo Taehyun timeline I’m making for myself
    0:03 hair swish = heaven
    0:21 wistful Taehyun
    0:54 falsetto is insane ㅠㅠㅠ
    …

  • The statue-looking guy is the main vocal?? I feel betrayed

  • The kid who raps has a great tone. He should just be a rapper—why’s he trying to be an idol
└ What are you even saying, he’s literally on a survival show to be an idol
└ People still think like this in 2026?
└ Why do you think? His face is the answer. Not debuting with that face is a crime

  • Miro trainees are actually crazy

The reaction was strong.

It had only been ten minutes since upload, and the views and comments were climbing fast with every refresh.

Half of this is probably Seo Taehyun’s fandom.

Still, the other half was distributing attention fairly evenly among Team A members.

And there were more Korean comments than English.

That was good.

Then—

  • 2:17 what’s the name of the red-haired guy PLEASE my heart is beating for the first time in 2,000 years
    └ It’s Lee Yugeon!

“…Lee Yugeon.”

Right.

That guy.

I replayed the video, focusing only on Lee Yugeon.

He danced fine.

He sang when it was his part.

But he didn’t have many lines, and his presence felt… tucked away. Like he was being slightly hidden.

Ironically, Lee Doha got more screen time.

“Also… Lee Doha really can’t dance.”

Unlike monthly evaluations, this prep period was short. For Doha, just memorizing the choreography was probably his limit. He was stiff. You could tell at a glance.

Which made this weirder.

“…Don’t you think so, Thirteen?”

[System Notice: Y-yes?]

The window popped up—this time with visible sweat dripping.

“Focus. We’re supposed to find the chosen regressor.”

[System Notice: Are you suspecting Lee Yugeon-nim?]

“I don’t have a reason not to.”

Something about him felt off.

I activated the memo panel on the side of the system UI. My previous scribbles appeared like neatly arranged Post-its.

Before I could type—

[System Notice: Um, but….]
[System Notice: Aren’t you going to monitor the video you’re in?]
[System Notice: The system expresses pure curiosity. (・ヘ・?)]

I had nothing to say.

Because yes.

I was deliberately avoiding Team B’s video.

[System Notice: Don’t tell me you’re embarrassed? Σ (・口・)]

“Yeah, idiot. I’m embarrassed to death.”

I waved it away.

I’ll watch it tonight.

When there’s more reaction built up.

Which was just an excuse.

The truth?

I didn’t want to see what people said about me.

—Hajin’s voice sticks out too much.
—I don’t know… it’s kind of meh.
—Have you ever thought about changing paths? At this rate, when are you going to debut?

Old voices resurfaced.

I shook my head.

I’m not that Kang Hajin anymore.

Still.

Fear is fear.

“Ugh. I’ll watch it later.”

[System Notice: Then I will set a reminder alarm for 9 p.m. to monitor Team B’s video!]
[System Notice: The system expresses excitement about the fixed regressor’s first performance video. (⸝⸝⍢⸝⸝) ♥]

Great.

Now it was enthusiastic.

“Let’s organize.”

The best part of the memo pad was that my thoughts auto-typed.

“First—statistically, it’s likely one of the trainees. No clear contact points with staff or seniors. So it’s probably one of the 17 currently on the show.”

All 17 profiles auto-loaded.

Insane feature.

I started eliminating.

“Not Seo Taehyun. He made the same choice in every life.”

<Seo Taehyun>

“Remove Han Seongwoo. And Park Jaeyoung. Gong Seok. Not Kim Wonho either.”

<Han Seongwoo>
<Park Jaeyoung>
<Gong Seok>
<Kim Wonho>

“Joo Eunchan and Dan Haru… keep them for now.”

After cycling through “remove / keep,” I narrowed it down.

Lee Doha

★★★☆☆

  • Ridiculously good rap, composing, producing

  • Never saw his name in past lives

  • Observant—maybe too observant

  • Squatting in Special Class as a rap one-trick

Jung Siwoo

★★☆☆☆

  • Ridiculously high stats (face, vocals, dance)

  • Don’t know his personality yet

  • Need more data

Lee Yugeon

★★★★☆

  • Ability doesn’t match what shows

  • Said “I’m not debuting anyway”

  • Isolated

  • Bad trainee reputation

  • Doesn’t seem desperate

Joo Eunchan

★★★★☆

  • Extremely strong stats

  • Didn’t see him last life

  • Benefited most from Director Son Hyeonggu + Han Seongwoo getting neutralized

Dan Haru

★★★☆☆

  • Suspiciously protagonist-coded name

  • Benefited from director getting handled

  • Too sunny?

  • Age regression timing feels awkward

“Five people…”

One of them was already practically in my hands.

“Thirteen. I still have one unused reward, right?”

The old quest window popped up.

[Single Quest 03]

‘Want to become special?’

Quest Completed.

Reward (Choose one):

  1. Clue for tracking regression

  2. Recruit a companion

[System Notice: ‘Lee Doha’ (Response Rate 68.9%) and ‘Kim Wonho’ (Response Rate 92.3%) have responded.]

Kim Wonho’s rate was tempting.

But Doha was more urgent.

“Lee Doha.”

[System Notice: ‘Lee Doha’ is responding. (Response Rate 68.9%) Recruitment possible.]
Recruit? (Y/N)

“Yes.”

[System Notice: ‘Lee Doha’ has been recruited as a companion. (3/??)]
You may track status/location. Summon cost: 10 cash.

“I want to see Lee Doha’s past timelines.”

[System Notice: Unlock requires 70% response rate.]

“…You’re kidding me.”

1.1% short.

My phone buzzed.

<MiroEnt_Ji Suho | Good work. Lunch tomorrow?>

I replied yes.

Time and place sent.

Then—

“Thirteen.”

[System Notice: The system responds to the fixed regressor’s call.]

“Let’s see it.”

“What exactly is CP Yoon cooking up with Han Seongwoo?”
